James graduated from Liverpool University in 2009. He worked in mixed practice in North Yorkshire for two years after qualifying, before heading back to the Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital (University of Liverpool) for a 12-month equine internship. Following that, James did a stint locumming (and repairing a boat!), did a season working in Australia and then returned to the UK (via cycling through Asia for a few months) to equine practice in Somerset. James returned to his home in South Devon and started working for South Moor in 2016. Having completed a post graduate certificate in equine practice shortly after joining the practice, James enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary work and the community feel of working in Devon and Cornwall. James has two young children and became a director in the practice in 2019
